American Music Lecture: Foster the People
A monthly series of lectures devoted to American music, particularly Grammy Award ® winners and their famous albums. We’ll learn and discuss what makes album a “hit,” the creative process in music, how do musicians achieve success in the record industry and what are unifying factors in winning albums (if there are any). Each lecture will cover individual albums/artists and over the course will include Frank Sinatra’s “Come Dance with Me,” Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” “Ray Charles’ “Genius Loves Company,” Taylor Swift’s “1989” and others.
This month’s lecture will introduce you to the influence of indie pop music in contemporary U.S. culture, with focus on examples such as Foster the People’s album, “Sacred Hearts Club.” In addition to our lecture, we will have a musical concert by talented guest musician, Lera Grin!
Led by Dmitry Tsvetkov, a musician, literary agent and writer.
* * NOTE: There will be no Open Mic Night afterward.
