American Music Lecture: “Home Alone Christmas” by John Williams
A monthly series of lectures devoted to American music, particularly Grammy Award ® winners and their famous albums. We’ll learn and discuss what makes album a “hit,” the creative process in music, how do musicians achieve success in the record industry and what are unifying factors in winning albums (if there are any). Each lecture will cover individual albums/artists and over the course will include Frank Sinatra’s “Come Dance with Me,” Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” “Ray Charles’ “Genius Loves Company,” Taylor Swift’s “1989” and others.
This month’s lecture is dedicated to the original Home Alone soundtrack written by John Williams and to classic Christmas songs included in the first two movies of the franchise. You will find out how film music helps to make a Christmas season bright.
Led by Dmitry Tsvetkov, a musician, literary agent and writer.
