Masterclass: “Native American Dance: Way to Harmony between Body and Spirit”
Vidala Neyanaya, a professional dancer from Los Angeles (California), has Native American roots. She began formal ballet, tap and jazz training at age 5 and started to perform professionally at age 15. She has studied with many dance luminaries. Vidala received a BA in philosophy from Wheaton College. Neyanya is critically acclaimed by international dance critics, classical musicians and famous artists. The legendary pianist, Bryon Janis invited her to perform a duet in the Southampton Music festival. The successful collaboration was highlighted in the New York Times. Neyanya has performed with famous Chinese pianist Tian Jiang and renowned violinist, Julian Rachlin. Vidala’s training with the last student of Isadora Duncan Moscow School Lily Dikovskaya (1913-2014), who emigrated from the USSR to London, made Vidala one of the best contemporary authentic Duncan dancers.
At the American Center, Vidala will show some ancient Native American dances which she believes help to keep body and spirit in harmony and improve health. Attendees will be able to practice dances with Vidala and have a nice time together.
