Talk by Russian-Language Spokesperson of the U.S. Department of State: “Tips for Public Speaking”
Are you currently a university student or professional living in Moscow? Do you want to get first-hand tips about public speaking and getting your message across? Come join us for a conversation with Vanessa Acker, Russian-Language Spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State and Deputy Director of the State Department’s European Regional Media Hub and Richard Buangan, Managing Director for International Media Engagement, Bureau of Public Affairs.
Vanessa also manages the Department’s Russian-language Twitter feed and Facebook page. She has served previously at U.S. embassies in Riga, Moscow, Mexico City, and Tbilisi. Prior to entering the Foreign Service, she worked as a crisis communications consultant in Latin America.
Richard oversees the offices of International Media Engagement, the Foreign Press Centers, and the Rapid Response Unit in the Bureau of Public Affairs. Richard joined the U.S. Foreign Service in 1999 and was most recently chief of the public diplomacy section at the U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem. Prior to that, he was Director of the Office of Digital Engagement managing the Department of State’s flagship social media platforms. Richard was also Spokesperson and Press Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing as well as staff assistant to Secretaries of State Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice.
