Workshop: Methodology Revisited, Revitalized, Reenergized
Many tend to define good teaching as instruction that leads to effective learning, which in turn means thorough and lasting acquisition of the knowledge, skills, and values the instructor or the institution has set out to impart upon the students. But how do we actually become good teachers? What makes a good teacher, especially when teaching English as a foreign language? Join us for two workshops on English teaching methodology with longtime English teacher, Subkhan Poladov, to learn how!
These lectures will present a variety of teaching strategies in the following core areas: Engaging the Learner (Motivating Today’s Students); Encouraging Students to Speak; Dealing with Learner Errors; Using Stories in the Classroom;Grammar Practice Activities; Drama, Roleplay and Simulations; Language Development; Evaluation and Feedback.
(These workshops are open to all teachers, but are intended to provide a hands-on supplement to the American English Webinars that will take place beforehand at 3p.m.)
Subkhan is a senior lecturer at Moscow University of Finance and Law. He has a distinguished resume in English teaching including international experience at the American Studies Center established on the initiative of Indiana University – Bloomington.
