MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE TEACHER 2 TEACHER WORKSHOP PROGRAM
The American Center and U.S. Embassy English Language Office are excited to resume our popular Teacher 2 Teacher Workshops this year with our new English Language Fellow, Dr. Debra Josephson Abrams!
Over the course of the 2016-2017 academic year, Dr. Abrams will present workshops once a month (generally on Mondays) which are open to teachers of English in classroom settings and/or students who are pursuing degrees in teaching English as a Foreign Language. Please note that space is limited and preference will be given to those who teach in public schools/universities rather than private instructors.
For nearly 30 years, Dr. Debra Josephson Abrams has taught English to both native and non-native English users and is a 2016-2017 English Language Fellow at Moscow’s Higher School of Economics. A national and international conference presenter, Abrams has written in a number of genres and for many publications; she is a monthly columnist for TESOL’s English Language Bulletin. Her Doctor of Arts is in English and Education, and her dissertation examined the writing of prelingually profoundly and severely deaf student writers. Her areas of academic expertise include critical pedagogy; teacher training, peer coaching and mentoring; multiple intelligences and learning styles; composition pedagogy and practice; critical thinking, critical literacy and critical reflection; research and research training; course and curriculum design; alternative (formative) assessment; and issues in deaf education.
Abrams is an endurance runner and running coach, a photographer, and an avid cook having studied cooking in Italy and the US. In addition to English, she uses American Sign Language and has low-intermediate competence in Spanish. She has traveled to 30 countries and operates Parts of Speech Educational Creativity (www.partsofspeechec.com) and Down the Shore Images (www.downtheshoreimages.com).
