In the first lecture we already discussed how law relates to artificially intelligent programs, what legal significance of software is, and which legal issues AI hardware raises.

Our second lecture will be devoted to legal application of AI with special focus on lawmaking, legal responsibility, and law enforcing. What should happen if a self-driving car makes a mistake, causes damage, or kills someone? What are the advantages and shortcomings of using surveillance cameras in public places in combination with facial recognition to capture suspects?  How does the translation of analogue legal norms into digital code occur? How is modelling law with the help of AI beneficial? How can AI be used in the public sector by the government to optimize the services that it provides to citizens? Why is data protection so important? These are some of the questions that will be discussed in the lecture on March 12.
