Register to be part of a free seven-week English course in which you can polish your professional English and advance your career! 

In Career Development: Free English Course for Professionals, you will participate in an online course from the Online Professional English Network (OPEN) and also attend weekly workshops with an English Language Specialist. The program runs on June 24, 2022 — August 5, 2022, with two groups meeting online on Fridays at 16:00-17:30 MSK and at 19:00-20:30 MSK.

Career Development: Free English Course for Professionals is for adult participants at the intermediate level, and in it you will find out about applying and interviewing for jobs as well as explore your global career path while building vocabulary and improving your language skills. You will gain insights about the job application process, master strategies to identify positions that match your skills and interests, develop a professional resume and cover letter, and improve your networking and interview skills.

Please note that the number of places in the program is limited and applicants will undergo a selection process based on the completed application form.

Application:

Step 1: Apply for this program by filling out the form at the end of this announcement in full by June 15, 2022. 

Step 2: Selected candidates will be notified of their acceptance into the program by June 20, 2022 via email from [email protected] to the email address specified in the application form. Only selected candidates will begin the program on June 24, 2022. 

Registered participants who are not selected will be added to a waiting list and will be notified about the next enrollment into the program later in 2022.

Eligibility:

This program is designed for adult participants from across Russia who are interested in advancing their careers and improving their language skills. The minimum English language requirement is: Intermediate/B1 level of English.

Schedule: 

Two groups of 25 selected participants will have 7 online weekly meetings on June 24 — August 5, 2022, on:

• Group 1 —  on Fridays at 16:00-17:30 MSK

• Group 2 — on Fridays at 19:00-20:30 MSK

Course structure:

• English for Career Development online course: five modules to be completed asynchronously, approximately 25-30 hours of English practice;

• Workshops with English language Specialist: seven synchronous weekly meetings for 90 minutes, 10.5 hours of professional English;

• Weekly office hours for individual or small group consultations with English Language Specialist.

Completion: 

Participants who complete the online asynchronous content and attend at least 5 workshops will receive an e-certificate from Regional English Language Office.

Instructor:

English Language Specialist Rachel Koch

Rachel Koch is an educator and an optimist. She has been working in higher education for the last twelve years. From 2010 to 2018, she taught writing and ran a first-year writing program at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. Then, from 2018 to 2019, she completed a yearlong fellowship in Moscow, Russia at the Higher School of Economics (HSE). While in Russia, she taught classes, traveled the country–from Kamchatka to Kaliningrad,– worked with students and teachers, and fell in love with the culture. Currently, Rachel works at Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona. Her program integrates education and training for adults who are returning to school. She feels incredibly fortunate to have worked with learners and colleagues along the way who are devoted to lifelong learning.

Rachel earned a BA in English and an MA in TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) with an emphasis in Applied Linguistics. Although she has many areas of interest, her three current professional priorities are as follows: promoting digital literacy, reimagining career development, and integrating wellness practices into education.

Outside of work, Rachel loves to run in the desert, travel to new and exciting places, make jewelry, and work on her new-to-her (but quite old!) house. She loves to talk about work and her personal projects, so feel free to ask her about anything!
