November 16-22 is Global Entrepreneurship Week — a week-long festival that celebrates and cultivates national and global entrepreneurship ecosystems. Global Entrepreneurship Week helps people from every walk of life connect to the support they need at every stage of their entrepreneurial journey. During this week, the American Center in Moscow is hosting events designed to help business students, beginner entrepreneurs, and experienced businesspeople explore their potential as self-starters and innovators.
On November 17 at 6 pm MSK the American Center in Moscow invites entrepreneurs and businesspeople interested in going international to a lecture on doing business in the US for the first time by Professor David Reed, Syracuse University College of Law.
This lecture will serve as a primer of some of the unusual things foreign companies will encounter if they wish to launch, expand, or operate their businesses in the United States. It will also give an overview of the opportunities and challenges provided to foreign companies by the financial and regulatory environments in the US. Finally, it will introduce you to important factors, such as insurance and taxes, to consider if you want your company to successfully navigate the road to expansion into the U.S. market.
About the speaker: David L. Reed, Esq., spent nearly twenty years working internationally with pharmaceutical and medical device companies, negotiating contracts and licenses, buying and selling companies and product lines, and resolving regulatory and employment matters.
He is currently the Adjunct Professor for International Business Transactions at the Syracuse University College of Law, teaches both International business Transactions and Comparative Bankruptcy Law at Al Yamamah University College of Law (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia), and is the immediate past president of the Entrepreneurial Society of Central New York. David earned his B.A. at Dartmouth College, graduating at the age of twenty, and received his J.D. from the Syracuse University College of Law. He has passed bar exams and been admitted to practice in the states of Massachusetts, New York and Florida, and is currently admitted to the First Circuit Court of Appeals and the Northern District for the Second Circuit.
Since returning to Syracuse in 2009, David has grown Reed CNY Business Law by satisfying each client’s unique needs, whether they are a for-profit or not-for-profit corporation, involved in manufacturing or sales, and whether they are large or small. His clients are located in New York and many other states within the US, as well as in Korea, France, the UK, Qatar and Israel. David helps each prepare for immediate risks and identify long-term opportunities.
