Human beings are used to think that speaking has more value than listening, that is why we underestimate the importance of the last one. Listening is essential in order to break down misunderstandings between humans and build a stronger connection with society. Listening is a tool, helpful for the establishment of an empathetic and sustainable community.

The Listen First Club is designed for anyone who is willing to learn about the importance of listening in daily life. The club will be centered around the idea of listening with empathy.

The second meeting on March 18 at 8:00 pm MSK will be co-hosted by the Contemporary Communication Professor and founder of the “Listen First” Club at LCC International University — Dr. Andrew Jones, who will be leading a discussion about the importance of supportive listening as well as continuing the topic of listening with empathy in more detail.

The Listen First Club is going to meet biweekly. Since every meeting will build on what was learned or practiced in a previous meeting, consider becoming a regular participant. Save the dates in your calendars — every other Thursday at 8:00-9:00 pm MSK. The number of places is limited, so book early.

These classes are best suited for adults (19-40 years old); recommended level of English: Intermediate and higher. 

Introductory meetings will be facilitated by AMC volunteer Miroslava Yarkova. Miroslava is an aspiring global educator, FLEX Alumna’16, currently pursuing a BA in Contemporary Communication from LCC International University located in Klaipeda, Lithuania. She is passionate about theatre, education, volunteering, performing arts, event organization, and knowledge exchange.

This class is hosted on Zoom, so if you are interested in joining, please create a Zoom account beforehand. When registering below, please submit your valid email address to receive a link to the class Zoom meeting 30 minutes before the session begins.
