Today Media Literacy Fellow Joseph Crescente welcomes Chris Sperry, co-founder and Director of Curriculum and Staff Development for Project Look Sharp, a media literacy initiative at Ithaca College. A pioneer in the field of media literacy studies, Sperry will discuss “Integrating Media Literacy and Critical Thinking into English Language Instruction,” an interactive presentation on the integration of media literacy and critical thinking into the teaching of English language instruction. Sperry taught social studies, English, and media for 40 years and through his work with Project Look Sharp he has authored, co-authored and edited more than a dozen published curriculum kits, all of which are available free online at www.projectlooksharp.org
Chris Sperry has collaborated with educators throughout the world to produce lessons that integrate media literacy and critical thinking into the curriculum, including in Turkey, Bhutan, Iran, India, Panama, and Kenya. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions. As always, no previous knowledge is necessary, just a desire to learn more!
