The topic of this lecture: Asset management — financial control and case study on infrastructure construction

Finance is the “language of business”. It consists of management reporting and financial statements. Being able to understand this language allows individuals both inside and outside of an organization to join the “conversation” about how the organization is performing and how it can improve future performance. These lectures will teach you the tools you will need in order to understand the fundamentals of financial accounting. These tools are the three most commonly used financial statements: the Balance Sheet, the Income Statement, and the Statement of Cash Flows. Beyond recording transactions, you will learn how these financial statements are prepared, and how to read and analyze them to draw basic conclusions about a company’s financial health.

Additionally, we will explore capital budgeting of infrastructure deals. Firstly, we will present the key elements making up the budget of the construction phase and the sources of finance used for the construction of the said infrastructure. We will then move on with the analysis of the budgeting of the operational phase focusing on the sources and uses of funds.
