Lecture: The Role of the Department of Homeland Security Abroad

Recently the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Cultural Property, Art, and Antiquities Program (CPAA) had the honor of repatriating 28 documents of historical value to the Russian government in a ceremony in Moscow.

The documents consist of imperial decrees, military records, and architectural drawings from the 18th and 19th centuries., which were stolen from Russian State Archives and later listed for sale by auction houses, art galleries and individuals.

Who was responsible for finding these documents and how? You may be surprised to learn that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security was critical in the investigations to find these documents and return them to Russia. Join us for a presentation by Jason Cassidy, Deputy Attache for the Department of Homeland Security at the U.S. Embassy in  Moscow to learn more about these roles and the mission of DHS in Moscow.
