The U.S. Embassy and American Center in Moscow invite you to the presentation of a special initiative — «Silk Road Rising» project.

Silk Road Rising is an art-making and art service organization that shapes conversations about Asian and Middle Eastern Americans. Through storytelling and dialogue, they challenge disinformation, promote a culture of continuous learning, and explore what it means to be Americans.

Today at the American Center Silk Road Rising company will present a documentary film titled «Not Quite White: Arabs, Slavs, and the Contours of Contested Whiteness» and a video play titled «The Balancing Arab». The screenings are followed by the discussion led by Malik Gillani, Executive Director of Silk Road Rising.

The project intent is to look at a major cultural issue that Americans are grappling with: identity. Both of the video plays look at identity: one from a racial perspective, the other from a cultural heritage perspective.
