Special Event with U.S. Quad Rugby Team

Wheelchair rugby is a co-ed team sport for athletes with disabilities, which includes elements of wheelchair basketball, ice hockey, handball and rugby.  Practiced in over twenty-five countries, it is a summer Paralympic sport, governed by the International Wheelchair Rugby Federation (IWRF).  Wheelchair Rugby has recently spread to Russia and in 2012, the sport was officially recognized by the Russian Federation Ministry of Sport, 

This week we will be visited by 8 American coaches and athletes, who will share their experiences playing in U.S. wheelchair rugby. Guests will include:

— World Champion and three-time Paralympic medalist, Scott Hogsett: 

— National Quad Rugby Team member and coach, Eric Chase;

— Paralympic athlete and current President of the U.S. Quad Rugby Association, Bob Lujano; 

— Former coach of the Mexican National Wheelchair Rugby Team, Gabriel Nyrkkanen; 

— Vice President of the U.S. Quad Rugby Assocation, Emily Shryock; 

— Paralympic trainer and head coach for Lakeshore Rugby "Demolition" Team, Mitch Watkins.
