Student Presentations on American Culture
Описание мероприятия
Meet American interns at the American Center in Moscow!
Today John Barton and Robert Gluzman will talk about their experiences as American students and volunteers.
John Barton, 20 years old, from Riverton, New Jersey is currently in his second year of study at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. He is on his university’s futsal (indoor soccer) team and is a member of the student government. Today John will talk about community service and volunteering in the United States, the role that community service and volunteering play in modern American life. He will be making a comparison to the space that volunteering has in Russian society and go into detail about his service as an AmeriCorps Summer volunteer this past summer.
Robert Gluzman is completing his bachelor’s degree in International Affairs and Russian, at the University of Georgia. Although this is not the same place where they make delicious wine, it is the state that is known for its funny country accents, humid summers, and a passion for American Football. Robert, however, prefers the cold winters and hockey, as he spent most of his life in Finland. He loves to travel, study languages and cultures, while meeting new people. If he is not working, he is most likely hiking somewhere with his wife, Kia. Robert will give tips for traveling: while traveling to other countries might sound straight forward there are certain life hacks that we can use to make our trips more convenient and fun.
