Women’s Empowerment Lecture: From an arts manager to a business owner — a story of a female entrepreneur

In her talk, Irina will cover the story of her education, how she became the youngest executive producer of the Bolshoi, how she gave this all up for her dream to live and work in the US. She will also mention how family and personal issues forced her to come back to Russia, where she, at first, had to and then chose to be a business lady and how she adapted to combine motherhood with operating two businesses (a contract supply company and biotech lab), as well as running her own producing agency as a hobby.

About the speaker: Irina Paradnaya is a freelance producer and entrepreneur currently based in Moscow. She started her way as manager of operations in the American Studio of the Moscow Art Theater, which was organizing exchange programs of American acting students from various institutions. She was the executive producer of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia and during her tenure she produced 20 performances, a Grand Re-Opening of the Historical Stage after Renovation and organized several tours of the theater. She then spent several years in New York obtaining a Master Degree in NYU and operating her producing agency that provided consulting and administrative services to non-profit organizations.
