Welcome to a series of workshops on how information media work. We will research how the news is made and why it is presented in this or that way, how to tell the difference between fake news and reliable news, what makes content viral and how it becomes click-bait.

Session 1: Media Landscape and Key Players. In this session, we will discuss the current information environment all over the world. We will address the question of how independent the media is in Russia, the USA, and the rest of the world. Suggested homework: reading about any channel, newspaper, or Internet media outlet in any country of your choice.
