Workshop: “How Information Media Work”

Welcome to a series of workshops on how information media work. We will research how the news is made and why it is presented in this or that way, how to tell the difference between fake news and reliable news, what makes content viral and how it becomes click-bait.

Session 3: Fake News, Facts and Confirmation Bias. We will investigate how media and different groups of influence manipulate information. We will learn how to tell the difference between facts, ideology and opinion and fakes. During this session we will also work out how to write attractive titles and yet remain honest with your audience. As a homework students are asked to give examples of fake news and real news.
