AMC Online | Creative Writing Club: FlashFiction
Are you looking for a new, creative way to express yourself in English? Have you always been interested in creative writing but didn’t know where to start? Are you already a seasoned storyteller but are looking for an opportunity to improve your skills? Then you should join the American Center’s biweekly Creative Writing Club with Blair Dunbar, long-time writing intern with EducationUSA Russia and an experienced communications professional.
Through a series of biweekly interactive, hands-on workshops, we’ll examine popular forms of creative writing, from personal essays to short stories, and work to develop skills related to the building blocks of these literary forms. From character development and imagery to dialogue and conflict resolution, each session will feature live instruction on a particular skill, followed by a series of exercises, dedicated writing time, and peer review. It won’t be long till you’re writing fabulous works of fiction and non-fiction! To kick off the club, we’ll have a series of sessions focused on short stories.
Designed for students aged 14+ with upper-intermediate English. A pen and paper or laptop are required. No previous experience with creative writing needed.
The topic of Session 1 on November 9 at 7:00 PM MSK is «FlashFiction: What It Is and How to Write Great Stories in 500 Words».
Led by Blair Dunbar, American Center’s volunteer, long-time writing intern with EducationUSA Russia and an experienced communications professional.
