AMC Online | Media Literacy and Video-blogging

Media Literacy Fellow Joseph Crescente will give a media literacy presentation via an AMC Online program. During the lecture today we will discuss and analyze different topics connected to media literacy to help you become a more savvy video-blogger. 

The possibility to reach a global audience from your living room using simple technological tools was unfathomable not long ago. YouTube and other video-blogging platforms present an amazing opportunity to discuss issues in depth, host your own show, and connect with people all over the world. However, along with these relatively new technological platforms, one must be aware how they operate and take responsibility for content, as unfortunately YouTube and other video-blogging sites frequently become conduits for misinformation. In this presentation you will learn all about YouTube, how its algorithms work, what media filter bubbles are, and the ethics of video-blogging.    

As always, no previous knowledge is necessary, just a desire to learn more! 

The lecture is hosted as part of the AMC online project «Learn to be a YouTuber» and is open for public, it will be livestreamed with translation into Russian.
