The topic of the first virtual meeting on Wednesday, June 3 at 19:00 is: «Outsiders and Objects: The Work of Dan Hurlin».
Dan Hurlin is an American theater artist who develops large-scale theater events with puppets. He directed the Puppet Lab at St. Ann’s Warehouse in New York City and was the Director of the Graduate Program in Theater at Sarah Lawrence College, where he taught both dance and puppetry. He has received fellowships and grants from various foundations, including the New York Foundation for the Arts, the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation, the Rockefeller Map Fund, and the Jim Henson Foundation. He is the recipient of several awards, including the 2014 Rome Prize in Visual Art, 2004 Alpert Award for theater, a 1990 Obie Award for his solo adaptation of Nathanael West’s A Cool Million, and a 2001 Bessie Award for his suite of puppet pieces Everyday Uses for Sight Nos 3 & 7.
