Red Ribbon Week: Opioid Crisis
Описание мероприятия
The American Center in Moscow invites you to participate in a presentation and discussion on the Opioid Crisis in honor of Red Ribbon Week, the oldest and largest drug prevention awareness program in the United States. Presented by U.S. Embassy officers from the Drug Enforcement Agency and FBI, this program will raise awareness and stimulate discussion around the opioid abuse, which claims more than 130 American lives every day. Join us to understand and discuss the epidemic that many professionals are calling the greatest public health crisis in a generation.
About Red Ribbon Week:
Red Ribbon Week raises awareness of drug use and the problems related to drugs facing local communities. The Red Ribbon Campaign challenges and encourages parents, educators, business owners, and community organizations to promote drug-free lifestyles.
Since its beginning in 1985, the Red Ribbon has touched the lives of millions of people around the world. In response to the murder of a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Agent Enrique Camarena, angered parents and youth in communities across the country began wearing Red Ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to raise awareness of the killing and destruction cause by drugs in America. Wearing red ribbons during the month of October continues to represent pledge to live drug free and honors the sacrifice of all who have lost their lives in the fight against drugs.
