Talk: “Lacrosse and Native American History”

Join us for a talk and discussion of the origins and history of one of the world’s oldest sports — lacrosse. You will learn about beliefs and traditions of the Native American game; how they were inherited, changed, and adapted by the colonial people of America; and its transition from a native substitute for war, to a fast-growing sport enjoyed by many.

We will also talk about lacrosse as a sport today, including modern rules, equipment, and international competition.

Led by Kieran Whitsitt, a US Embassy Summer Hire, who arrived in Moscow in November 2017 with his family. He has moved 8 times with the U.S. Navy and has lived in 4 different countries. Kieran goes to the Anglo American School of Moscow and has played lacrosse for 6 years and attended many national tournaments at the club level.
