Talk “The State of Michigan”

Welcome to a talk about the state of Michigan by Ava Luna Pardo-Keegan, an American high school student. Ava will talk about the things that Michigan is well known for and break down the stereotypes that it has. Additionally, she will highlight the differences between the cultures of Michigan farms and that of the big cities like Detroit. 

 

Ava Luna Pardo-Keegan was born in Detroit, Michigan but now lives on a big farm in Emmett, Michigan. She is 17 years old and is a senior at Yale High School. At school she participates in band, where she plays the flute and piano, and robotics, where she does programming of robots in competition. Her background includes many cultures as her family is originally from Colombia and she studied for a year in Spain. She speaks fluent Spanish. This summer, she is studying Russian in Moscow.
