Debate Club for Teenagers

Open to: Teenagers and young adults with upper-intermediate to advanced English language skills

Description

Though it may sound fancy, debate is simply arguing in its most constructive form—and it’s a great way to become better at sharing your thoughts and ideas in English! At Debate Club, you’ll join a team and work to form persuasive arguments on current issues (while simultaneously fending off criticism from other teams).

Past debates have included
Having a job in a company is better than being self-employed
Modern technologies help people’s socialization
GMOs are more helpful than harmful
Books are always better than their movie adaptations
Homeschooling is better than traditional schooling

Previous debating experience is not required, however, participants are expected to be able to clearly express their thoughts in English and to defend their point of view using persuasive arguments.

Open to: Teenagers and young adults with upper-intermediate to advanced English language skills
Perfect for: Opinionated, persuasive individuals
Meets: Thursdays at 6:00-7:30 p.m. MSK on Zoom. *Please create a Zoom account beforehand. We’ll send you a link to the meeting 30 minutes before the session begins.
